Your home might be why you’re always tired

Why are so many people tired even when they wake up at home?
Most people blame work, stress or screens. But as an interior designer, I often see another problem: the home itself is exhausting them.
A home can either calm your body down or keep it overstimulated all day without you realizing it.
I see this a lot in modern interiors. Homes look ok in photos but they don't actually feel good to live in: bright white lights everywhere, hard materials like glass, marble and concrete. Too much visual clutter, furniture that looks nice but is uncomfortable, large empty spaces that feel cold instead of comforting.
People think luxury means minimal and perfect but many of these homes quietly create stress.
I worked with a client who had just renovated her apartment. Everything was expensive and “designer-looking” but she kept telling me she never felt relaxed at home.
When I walked in, I understood immediately. The lighting was harsh, the apartment echoed because there were almost no soft materials and the furniture layout felt rigid and uncomfortable. Everything looked polished but nothing felt warm. The kind of design you find in Parisian Palace hotels, that you shouldn't find in a home.
So instead of redesigning the apartment for appearance, I redesigned it for the way she wanted to feel:
> we changed the lighting first and added softer warm lamps throughout the apartment.
> we brought in textured fabrics, rugs, curtains and richer colors to make the space feel calmer.
> we adjusted the furniture layout so it encouraged conversation and comfort instead of feeling stiff.
A few months later she told me, “I finally enjoy being home again”. That's the part people underestimate about design.
Your home affects your mood every single day. The lighting, colors, materials and layout all affect how your body feels inside the space.
That's what I design for. If your home looks beautiful but still does not feel good to live in, I would love to help you change that.
